I come from a long line of cooks and our kitchen has always been a place for us to express our creativity. Men and women are cooked in my family, and often teased each other about who was the best cook (no doubt it was my mother). My brother had a cooking show for years on a local network, there is the family and the Bar-B-Que recipe is still one of our favorites. But I am the only one who has this “secret recipe” that my mother gave it to me. My father, grandfather, my mother and my grandmother had another Bar-B-Que revenue, but it was my mother who was the favorite in all walks of family and religious gatherings. I inherited the love of my family to culinary adventure, but not as much talent!
How do you know when a new gadget or something to come on the market that will send me to the kitchen, I know that my husband will get it. I have a few favorite things, but – like my crock pot, which is good to have dinner ready when it is gone for the day, and food processors. These things I can not do without when it is simple, fast and prepare good meals.
First crockpot, and originally known as Crock-Pot has been around since the early 1970s. In 1991, the crockpot generated over 30 billion dollars in sales. Believe it or not, I still have the original when my mother bought. She has attended many dinners roast dinner with all the accessories. Slow cooking is the most difficult cuts fall-off-the-bone tender and added a variety of vegetable juice in a saucepan. Slow cookers are not very attractive then, and have evolved over the years. Famous chicken and my mother’s meatballs were cooked in the crock pot is old and the dish she brought to every church dinner at the request of all!
We have since upgraded to a larger crock pot with lid locks and handles. Favorite slow-cooked dinner for my husband fried potatoes, carrots and gravy. Mine is a chicken dish. In the morning I took two breasts skinless chicken in the casserole, add one cup of rice, water for cooking (the water depends on the type of rice you use – white rice, brown or basmati – our favorite), and add a pot seed Change Tikka Masala curry sauce on top, cook all day and it is ready when you come home from work. Chicken and rice to absorb all the flavors and is delicious! Serve with a salad and throw you a healthy and complete meals and delicious!
I could not begin to tell you how my mother made chicken and dumplings. We can never recreate the recipe. She had special loving touch, and apparently, a secret to his amazing dumplings. The beauty of a slow cooker is that you can cook almost any meat dishes, pasta dishes, desserts and bread. It also saves on electricity bills, and in summer, retains heat cooking because you do not have to bake for a few hours to cook. And believe me, living in a hot and humid as we do, it is worthwhile in itself!
